CLARK ANDREW LIBBEY
Clark Andrew Libbey is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years experience based in Albuquerque, NM.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, he spent years playing in the midwest in diverse acts ranging from the experimental music collective The Mystery Mary Brigade of the River Pirates to the agressive angular rock of Columbus, Ohio's Flipping Hades. In addition to writing songs for his multiple bands, he worked tirelessly to hone the craft of his own songs, whether they were amerciana, country, alernative rock or pop. Regardless of genre, his songs rely on his strong, soulful vocals, imaginative stroytelling and catchy hooks, making the listening experience a memborable one. Often playing all the instruments on his solo albums, they are often entirely his vision from cover to music to lyrics.
In 2003, after 30 years in Ohio, he took his midwestern sound to Albuquerque, NM. After several years hiatus from songwriting, playing bass and guitar professionally for other's groups, he returned to writing music again in 2012. Quitting his career in the corporate world in 2015, he began working on a full time music career in the desert Southwest. He toured relentlessly throughout the U.S. for four years throughout the U.S. promoting his 2016 EP "Food or Cash" and his 2018 acoustic solo album "From the Deserts of Ohio".
In 2019, Clark and his band, The High Desert Playboys, released "Country Songs for Your Trip to Mars", their debut album with Slow Start Records (San Antonio, TX). "Country Songs for Your Trip to Mars" was recorded entirely live with no overdubs or edits at Two Home Studios. Playing in a restored historic adobe casita on the property of the fabled Wulffraat residence and orchard, they were inspired to record the entire album in 5 hours. Featuring Ryan Goodhue on piano, Kristen Rad on violin, Bud Melvin on pedal steel and Mikey Hale on drums, The album combines Clark's unique americana style with some of the finest musicians in Albuquerque, creating a lush landscape dripping with delicate harmonies and beautiful classic country leads. Currently the Playboys are playing their unique blend of americana, classic country, bluegrass, traditional folk and cajun music throughout the Southwest at mountain town honky tonks, breweries and festivals.
Clark's last solo album, 'Small Town Famous" is available now at
